Tombstone listing. Broadfoot's "Roster of Confederate Soldiers Index", lists him in the muster rolls of Co. G, and E of the 13th GA. Cavalry. The 13th GA. Cav. was formed out of the 16th.. Jesse P. Wood and Jasper N. Wood are brothers and are also the brothers of Marion P. Wood, C.S.A. buried at the Wood Family Cemetery in District #255. ----------------------------- Jesse enlisted as a 3rd Sergeant in Company G, 13th GA Cavalry (16th Battalion GA Cavalry) on May 14, 1862 in Jefferson, Jackson County, Georgia. He was promoted to Sergeant on an undisclosed date and was captured at Knoxville, Tennessee on September 22, 1863. He was sent to Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky and was forwarded to Camp Morton yankee prison, Indianapolis, Indiana on October 13, 1863. He was transferred to Fort Delaware yankee prison, Delaware on March 19, 1864. He was exchanged on March 7, 1865 and was surrendered in compliance with the terms of a Military Convention made on April 26, 1865 at Bennett’s House, Durham Station, North Carolina between General Joseph E. Johnston and Major General W. T. Sherman and approved by Lieutenant General U. S. Grant. He was paroled at Augusta, Georgia on May 18, 1865. Source: John T. Nash, 6th great grandson of Capt. The prisioner, William Campbell, was captured around 9:30 a m Friday morning after several hours of search by the Sheriff's department, police department of Colbert and Comer, Colbert Fire Department, Madison County Civil Defense, bloodhounds from Elbert County and others. 1129	Died at age 75 years, 11 months, 8 days. ---------------------------- Notes for Virginia SILVEY HARRIS: GORDON COUNTY, GA - OBITS - Mrs. Virginia Harris This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: 123cue@email.msn.com Netha Dunlap Calhoun Times, Nov. 26, 1906 (Calhoun GA) IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE The spirit of Mrs. Virginia Harris took its flight on Nov. 7, 1906 to that eternal home - a house not made with hands. She was formerly Miss Virginia Silvey, was born Nov. 30, 1840. She was married to Mr. T. J.Harris Feb. 29, 1859. Unto them were born eleven children, nine of whom are living. Mrs. Harris had long been a consistent member of the Methodist church, having joined Shiloh church in Floyd county nearly forty years ago. In 1886 she moved her membership to Resaca, of which church she was a member when she died. She had been an invalid for almost five years, and the last nine weeks of her life were spent in bed, but she bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude. She loved her church and the cause of her blessed Master, of whom she often spoke. She was truly a model Christian. A few days before she died she called her children and neighbors to her bedside and told them that all was bright and she was going home, and that she wanted them all to meet her in that better world. It was hard to give her up, but it was the Lord's will, and we are cheered by the hope of meeting her in that bright beyond. (Note: Virginia Silvey was the daughter of William "Joe" Silvey and Mary E. Brown. She was the wife of Thomas Jefferson Harris. She is buried without a marker at Nance Springs Cem., Gordon Co. Harris, who died late, Wenesday night, July 13, were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Sugar Valley Old Methodist Church, the Rev. M. I. Bartley officiating. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Alice Armstrong and Hasseltine Dorsey, of Wilmington, N. C.; Mrs. Dealva Dixon, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs Letie Rosenau, Chicago; Miss Mabel Harris and Deward Harris, of Sugar Valley, and Davis Harris, Lumberton, N.
