Mr. D. H. Hardin, 78 of 2226 Gravis Road, died Thursday Jan. 16, 1997, at Beverly Manor Convelescent Center. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at Elliot Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Ken Young officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Hardin a native of Gibson, lived all his adult life in Augusta, GA as a truck driver for the City of Augusta. He was a Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Olive Road Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife Estell K. Hardin, two sons Danny Harden, Augusta and Mervin Harden, Martinez: two daughters Sarah Kitchens and Shirely Kulgar, both of Augusta: a brother Donnie Harden of Augusta, a sister Bernice Stewart of Augusta and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be D. W. Hadden, Kenny Kitchens, Bill Reynolds, Gary Harden, Clark Poling and Michael Harden.
The famly will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliot Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.

What I remember most about Doris Hardin, he was a very gentle man. I remember once he told me how he met his wife, Estelle where she was walking up this country road in Gibson and he spotted her and thought she was the prettiest gal he ever saw and that's how it all started their courting.

1528 Earl W. Hopkins, 79, died August 8, 2005. Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late L.G., Sr. and Lula Tolbret Hopkins and preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Hopkins and L.G. Hopkins, Jr. He was a member a deacon of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Hopkins was Navy veteran of WW II and was retired from Westinghouse. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST. Revs. Clark Ivey and Jack Segars will officiate. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Adams Hopkins; children, Steve Hopkins of Marietta, Susan Kubitz of Gainesville and Jeff Hopkins of Atlanta; sister, Farrah Wages; 5 grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. Lord and Stephens, WEST is in charge of arrangements.

1540 Ellison Clarke (-1801) was head of a household of four whites and three blacks in Chesterfield County in 1783. Allison Clarke and Ann Clarke witnessed the 1792-will of Thomas Rudd. His wife was likely Ann Lester, who as Ann Clark, was a legatee of the 1793-will of Jacob Lester.
Allison Clarke left a will in Chesterfield County (will dated 5 Aug. 1800,[a] recorded 13 April 1801 [b] ). He identified his wife as Nancy and left legacies to children. Peter Clarke and Jeremiah Baugh witnessed the will. - from "The Family History of John W. Pritchett"
